A wide range of movement disorders are treated at Precision Neurosurgery.
We bring together a group of world-class specialists with expertise
in the assessment and treatment of patients with movement disorders.
Ours goal is to set the highest standard of care for the surgical
treatment of patients with movement disorders in the Asia-Pacific
and Oceana regions.
Dr. Richard Bittar is a highly-trained
Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgeon. He has extensive international
experience in this type of surgery, and has been responsible for
a substantial amount of research in this area. The most common
procedure performed is deep brain stimulation (DBS), however a
range of other procedures are considered when tailoring therapy
to each patient’s condition and needs.
Parkinson’s disease is
the most commonly treated condition, with subthalamic nucleus (STN) deep
brain stimulation (DBS) being the most frequent operation performed.
DBS may also be used to treat generalised dystonia and
spasmodic torticollis (“wry neck”) in adults and children.
Other movement disorders including essential
tremor and multiple sclerosis
tremor are also frequently amenable to surgery.
